Bangladesh's garment sector has experienced a sharp downturn in exports to the European Union, recording an 18.9% decline during the period of January to May. This contraction is significantly steeper than the performance of key competing nations during the same timeframe.
According to data from TBS Bangladesh, other major exporters faced smaller declines: China saw a drop of 4.20%, Vietnam 1.51%, India 13.33%, and Türkiye 15.66%. The data highlights that Bangladesh's export reduction is notably more severe compared to these regional competitors.
