38 banks seek Tk28,000 crore stimulus for struggling businesses

Thirty-eight banks have collectively approached Bangladesh Bank seeking Tk28,000 crore in stimulus funding to assist businesses facing financial distress. Under the finalized terms, the central bank will compensate the participating banks at a rate equivalent to its policy rate plus 50 basis points. This arrangement marks a shift from the previously proposed 9% interest rate.
