An officer from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) fatally shot a driver in Maine, according to officials. This incident occurred just six days after a similar fatal shooting involving an agent in Texas.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security addressed the shooting nearly 12 hours after it took place. In a statement, the department claimed the officer opened fire because they were "fearing for public safety" after the driver attempted to flee from agents who were trying to stop his vehicle.
