To combat a revenue shortfall of Tk3,000 crore recorded over the past two months, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) has increased the maximum retail price (MRP) of low-tier cigarettes. The price for a 10-stick pack has been raised from Tk62 to Tk65. Despite this official adjustment, market reports indicate that these cigarettes are already being sold for as much as Tk70.
