The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) is rolling out the National Equipment Identity Register (NEIR) system, targeting to recover approximately Tk2,000 crore in annual tax evasion linked to illegal mobile handsets.
In the initial phase, the BTRC intends to activate the system's primary features. However, the de-registration mechanism will not be included in this stage of the rollout.
