A recent study has highlighted that human activities at the Everest Base Camp are potentially accelerating the melting of glaciers. To combat dehydration at high altitudes, climbers and guides consume significant amounts of water, resulting in the production of approximately 6,000 litres of urine daily. These findings suggest that such activities are contributing to the environmental degradation of the region.
