Government fast-tracks new LNG terminal at Maheshkhali to address gas shortage

The government has moved to fast-track the construction of a new Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) at Maheshkhali. This initiative, being pursued under a government-to-government (G2G) arrangement between Bangladesh and China, aims to alleviate the severe gas shortage currently affecting the country. The decision follows a fire incident at an existing LNG terminal that disrupted the nation's gas supply.
