The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has introduced a proposal to implement front-of-pack warning labels on packaged food products. In a filing released on Friday, the regulator stated that these labels are intended to help consumers quickly identify products containing high levels of specific nutrients.

The proposed labels will feature clear declarations such as 'HIGH FAT', 'HIGH SUGAR', 'HIGH SALT', and 'HIGHLY SWEETENED BEVERAGE'. This regulatory move comes in response to significant public outcry regarding the nutritional content of processed foods.
