PDB initiates Tk870cr project to restore Kaptai power plant capacity

The Power Development Board (PDB) is set to undertake an Tk870 crore project aimed at restoring 20-30MW of power generation capacity at the Kaptai hydroelectric plant. Although each unit at the facility is designed for a 50MW capacity, current output is limited to 35-40MW. This reduction is attributed to significant structural damage, aging foundations, and the use of outdated control systems.
