US House Speaker Johnson rules out bid for minority leadership

Louisiana Republican Mike Johnson has stated that he will not seek the role of minority leader in the House of Representatives. Throughout much of the 2026 midterm election campaign, Johnson had maintained that the Republican Party would successfully expand its majority in the House.
