What is Vetiver grass and why is the Bangladesh government promoting it?

Vetiver, locally known in Bangladesh as Binna ghash, is a shrub-like grass often found along roadsides, on abandoned lands, and in riverine areas. Depending on the region, it is also referred to as Benna, Khoskhos, or Chhon. The government of Bangladesh has now initiated plans to expand the utilization of this grass in various development projects.
