Bangladesh to seek increased water share in Farakka treaty renewal
The current 30-year Farakka water-sharing agreement is set to expire this December. Bangladesh plans to negotiate for a higher share of water during the renewal process.
The existing 30-year water-sharing agreement regarding the Farakka Barrage is scheduled to expire in December. According to the state minister, Bangladesh intends to seek an increased share of water as part of the upcoming renewal negotiations.
