The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) have formally requested the government to immediately revoke the National Board of Revenue's (NBR) decision to withdraw bonded warehouse facilities for the import of 10–30 count cotton yarn.
Industry leaders warned that this policy change could lead to a significant increase in production costs, ultimately undermining the global competitiveness of the country's ready-made garment (RMG) sector.
