According to an analysis by the Power and Participation Research Centre (PPRC), cigarette prices have effectively become cheaper in real terms when adjusted for inflation. Data up to August 2026 shows a decline in real prices across the majority of cigarette tiers. Furthermore, the market share for low-tier cigarettes has fallen to below 49 percent.
