Depositors have demanded that the government issue a formal gazette notification to solidify the finance minister's recent assurance. On 8 July, Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury informed parliament that depositors of troubled banks would be reimbursed in full, including interest, without facing any 'haircut' on their principal amounts.
