The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) has greenlit three metro rail projects involving a total expenditure of Tk2.5 lakh crore. The approved initiatives include revised cost proposals for the Japan-funded MRT Line-1, connecting the Airport to Kamalapur, and the MRT Line-5 Northern route from Hemayetpur to Bhatara.
Additionally, the MRT Line-5 Southern project, spanning from Gabtoli to Dasherkandi, has received approval. This specific project will be jointly financed by the Asian Development Bank and South Korea.
