Bessent urges G20 nations to weigh trade barriers against China to address imbalances

In an interview conducted prior to the G20 finance leaders' meeting, Bessent stated that the ongoing influx of exports from China is unsustainable. He suggested that G20 nations should contemplate implementing additional trade barriers against China to mitigate global trade imbalances. Bessent noted, however, that the United States' direct trade position regarding China is currently showing rapid improvement.
