After the passing of poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, his remains could not be transported to his birthplace in Churulia for burial. Most of his family members, who were residing in Kolkata or near Asansol at the time, had expressed a desire for him to be laid to rest beside his wife, Pramila Devi. Reports indicate that there were no formal discussions between the governments of India and Bangladesh regarding this matter.
