The financial performance of 36 banks listed on the stock exchanges for the first half (H1) of the year shows a divergent trend. According to data from TBS Bangladesh, 14 banks recorded a year-on-year increase in net profit. Conversely, five banks saw their profits decline, and six banks incurred substantial losses. While treasury gains provided a boost for some institutions, the burden of non-performing loans (NPLs) continues to weigh heavily on the financial health of others.
