A new highway project has been approved by the Prime Minister to link the island district of Bhola with the rest of the country. The proposed Hijla-Mehendiganj highway will establish a direct connection between Bhola, Barishal, and Dhaka. This infrastructure development is expected to reduce travel time and transportation costs, while simultaneously decreasing the district's reliance on waterways.
