The government of Bangladesh is currently investigating the reasons behind the temporary suspension of its labor market in the Southeast Asian nation of Laos. Since September, the Laotian government has halted the recruitment of Bangladeshi workers, as well as the issuance of work permits and entry visas. According to authorities in Laos, while the labor market for Bangladeshis in the country is not extensive, workers have been falling victim to various forms of fraud.
