India's ancient Buddhist site Sarnath added to UNESCO World Heritage List
The ancient Buddhist site of Sarnath in India has been named a UNESCO World Heritage site during the 48th session of the World Heritage Committee in Busan, South Korea.

During the 48th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee held in Busan, South Korea, the ancient Buddhist site of Sarnath was officially added to the World Heritage List. According to an official statement, the site was India's formal nomination for the 2025–26 cycle.
