Three new jails proposed in Chattogram to address overcrowding
Authorities have proposed building three new jails in Chattogram as current facilities struggle with inmate populations three times their capacity.

To mitigate severe overcrowding, a proposal has been made to construct three new jails in the Chattogram region. Prison authorities report that the Cox's Bazar District Jail is currently under immense pressure, housing approximately 2,600 inmates despite having a capacity of only 850. This figure represents more than three times the facility's intended limit.
