The Coral Red Kukri snake was first discovered in Uttar Pradesh, India, in 1936. For a long period, the species remained largely confined to the Himalayan regions of India and Nepal, with very limited records of sightings globally. However, in 2021, Bangladesh was officially listed as the third country to serve as a habitat for this snake. Since then, a total of 66 Coral Red Kukri snakes have been recorded in Bangladesh.
